President Liu Yi expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the university to Zhu Fangmeng and his wife Tang Ting (a 1992 Chemistry alumna) for establishing the “Fanghua Scholarship”. He warmly congratulated the 24 awardees, noting that the scholarship reflects the couple’s deep commitment to their alma mater and honors the memory of Mr. Tang Wen, a 1962 Political Science alumnus. Liu encouraged the recipients to remain grateful, strive to be exemplary young people of the new era, and always remember their mission to contribute to the nation. He urged the university’s Education Development Foundation and related departments to continue expanding resources and improving fund management to ensure that every act of kindness makes a meaningful impact.

Zhang Daohong, Dean of the School of Chemistry and Materials Science, reported on the scholarship selection process on behalf of the Fanghua Scholarship Committee. Song Fajun announced the list of awardees: four students, including Li Jianjun from the School of Law, received first prizes; eight students, including Zhou Qi from the School of Chemistry and Materials Science, received second prizes; and twelve students, including Yang Qingyi from the School of Life Sciences and Zhang Nan from the School of Pharmacy, received third prizes. University leaders presented the awards to the recipients. Notably, many awardees have received national-level honors, with 15 being members of the Communist Party of China and 13 having been recommended for further studies at prestigious institutions such as Zhejiang University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Minzu University of China. Award recipients Shu Jia, Ma Binhao, Huang Zhicheng, and Li Chong delivered speeches, expressing that the award is not only an honor but also a significant legacy.

Zhu Fangmeng congratulated the students, stating that the scholarship aims to inspire young talent and encourage them to pursue their dreams with confidence and determination. He hopes it will further ignite their passion for learning and innovation, motivating them to become compassionate and responsible young leaders who bring warmth and hope to society. He fondly recalled his own time at SCMU and expressed gratitude for the education he received. The “Fanghua Scholarship” was established in April 2024 through a donation of 2 million RMB by alumni Zhu Fangmeng and Tang Ting to the university’s Education Development Foundation. It aims to reward diligent and outstanding students.
