SCMU Hosts Student-Faculty Luncheon

On November 25th, SCMU held a student-faculty luncheon at the South Lake Student Community. University Deputy Party Secretary and President Liu Yi joined ten new undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students from various schools to discuss academic and career planning. The attendees also included representatives from the Office of Administration, Student Affairs, Youth League Committee, Security, Academic Affairs, Graduate School, and Logistics.


The luncheon, hosted by Youth League Secretary Xu Qitao, aimed to create a platform for open dialogue between students and faculty, encouraging students to express their ideas and contribute to the university’s development. Students engaged in deep discussions with university leaders and department heads, sharing their affection for the university and aspirations for the future. Topics included academic studies, research directions, course teaching, career planning, and campus culture.


Undergraduate student Lv Yujie praised the beautiful campus and extensive library resources, which made him feel at home. He appreciated the teachers’ patience and guidance. Postgraduate student Xiang Wei shared experiences from a year of teaching in Xi Zang and his future career plans. Doctoral student Huai Hao discussed the opportunities and challenges in research during China’s unprecedented changes, offering insights into innovation based on his research experience.

President Liu Yi acknowledged the students’ enthusiasm and suggestions. He shared his expectations, emphasizing the importance of establishing clear goals and working steadily towards them, highlighting teamwork in solving complex problems, and embracing national responsibilities while integrating personal growth with societal progress. Liu concluded with guiding principles, emphasizing that success follows personal growth, independence broadens horizons, and true character lies in resilience and patriotism.

After the event, student La Zhen from the School of Ethnology and Sociology remarked that the luncheon fostered genuine communication between students and the university, creating a warm and supportive educational environment. Leaders and teachers were approachable and responsive, providing valuable guidance.


According to officials, the luncheon focused on consolidating a sense of community for the Chinese nation, bridging communication between students and university leaders. It exemplified the university’s commitment to holistic education, addressing student needs, and enhancing governance. SCMU plans to make the luncheon a regular event, fostering student engagement in campus development and creating a harmonious cultural atmosphere.
