SCMU’s “Youth Red Heritage Tour” Concludes with Celebration of Modern Agriculture and Ethnic Unity

On March 16, youth and enthusiasm filled the Hubei Modern Agriculture Exhibition Center as SCMU’s“Youth Red Heritage Tour”drew to a close. Themed “Creating a New Era ‘Land of Fish and Rice’, Painting a New Chapter of Ethnic Unity, and Accelerating the Strategic Rise of Central China”, the event was jointly organized by SCMU’s School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Youth League Committee, and the Hubei Modern Agriculture Exhibition Center.


The event brought together Gui Sunlai, Executive Deputy Director of SCMU’s Party Committee Publicity Department; Pan Zejiang, Director of the Experimental Teaching and Engineering Training Center and Dean of the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship; Xu Qitao, Secretary of the Youth League Committee; Wu Shengbing, Director of the Hubei Modern Agriculture Exhibition Center; He Chengbin, Senior Agronomist; Peng Rui, Senior Veterinarian; and student representatives from all 56 ethnic groups at SCMU.


Pan Zejiang opened the ceremony by highlighting the event’s significance and encouraging students to actively engage in modern agricultural development and contribute to rural revitalization and national rejuvenation. Wu Shengbing then officially launched the activities.


SCMU student representatives, dressed in traditional ethnic costumes, presented opening performances featuring Dai and Mongolian dances and Tujia folk songs.


During the “Unity Tree Planting” ceremony, faculty and students from various ethnic backgrounds came together to plant an osmanthus tree, symbolizing ethnic solidarity and sustainable agricultural development. Participants took turns digging, positioning the tree, adding soil, and watering, establishing roots for this living symbol of unity within the center grounds.

The “Cultural Showcase of Ethnic Arts and Agricultural Traditions” segment featured group competitions with prize-winning quizzes centered on farming culture, agricultural technology, ecological protection, and strengthening the Chinese national community consciousness. The lively atmosphere was filled with laughter, deepening communication and understanding among different ethnic groups.

In the “Agricultural Technology Exploration” session, students toured the agricultural culture corridor, crop variety display tower, academician and expert exhibition gallery, and field crop demonstration areas. They learned about planting techniques, growth cycles, and variety characteristics of crops like rapeseed and wheat. Students experienced research explanations, interactive exchanges, and safety warnings using AI smart earphones and AI+agriculture multimodal models. They also observed advanced agricultural technologies including soilless cultivation, intelligent irrigation systems, and agricultural big data applications, gaining deep insights into the scientific principles behind modern agriculture.

To conclude the event, students representing all 56 ethnic groups danced among a sea of golden rapeseed flowers, bringing the day’s activities to a perfect close.
