SCMU International Students Win Awards in First Hubei International Student Short Video Competition

On March 18, the results of the first Hubei International Student Short Video Competition themed “Toward the Future: Building the Yangtze River Dream Together” were announced. The competition was jointly organized by Hubei Broadcasting and Television Bureau, Cybersecurity and Information Office of Hubei Provincial Party Committee, Hubei Provincial Department of Education, and Hubei Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League.


Three entries from SCMU international students received awards: HAQNI MUHAMMAD FADHILAH ISLAMIL (Guan Chengjin), ALI KHALID MOHYELDEEN MOHAMED (Xu Ke) and OMER ALI OMER ALI (Liu Qiang), and NGUYEN THI NGOC LAN (Ruan Shi Yulan) won first prize, third prize, and outstanding work award respectively. The university was also recognized as an “Outstanding Organizing Institution”.


The competition centered around the theme “Toward the Future: Building the Yangtze River Dream Together”, focusing on three main areas: “Exploring Hubei and Experiencing Jingchu Charm” “Studying in Hubei and Promoting Cultural Exchange” and “Impressions of Hubei and Telling China’s Story”. The event aimed to promote interaction and integration among young people from different countries and advance the creative transformation and innovative development of outstanding traditional Chinese culture represented by Yangtze River culture.


Indonesian student Guan Chengjin created a video titled “Connected Path: A Tale of Two Cities”, narrating the story of Wuhan-based YOFC optical fiber factory’s establishment in Indonesia, showcasing how Chinese technology and wisdom traverse mountains and seas to connect people’s hearts. Sudanese students Xu Ke and Liu Qiang produced “Changes That Become Routine”, based on their personal experiences, introducing Wuhan’s sky rail trams, self-driving cars (Apollo Go), shared bicycles, as well as contactless and mobile payment systems, highlighting how these high-tech innovations bring convenient services to local residents’ daily lives. Vietnamese student Ruan Shi Yulan created “The Collision of Tradition and Modernity: Technology Empowering Traditional Chinese Crafts”, focusing on Chinese ceramics and their techniques. Her video tells how 3D printing technology empowers ceramic creation and virtual reality technology recreates the splendor of traditional handmade porcelain craftsmanship, demonstrating how Chinese traditional handicrafts are undergoing a magnificent transformation of inheritance and innovation in today’s rapidly evolving technological era.

The School of International Education will continue working with international student training colleges to advance the “Study at SCMU” brand building, fully leveraging the characteristics and advantages of ethnic institutions to help international students understand China while experiencing it, becoming effective cross-cultural communication ambassadors who can share China’s story with the world.
