The ceremony was attended by Xu Yeqin, Party Secretary of the university, Liu Yi, Deputy Party Secretary and President, along with all university leaders, Party Committee Standing Members, members of the Degree Evaluation Committee, heads of various university departments, representatives including counselors, class advisors, security personnel, and community counselors. Special guests included Dr. Chang Ying, Dean of the Institute of Public Administration Research and Training at Laos Ministry of Home Affairs, as well as high school principals and teachers. The ceremony officially commenced with the solemn national anthem. Liu Yi delivered heartfelt remarks to the graduates titled “Twin Towers Reach for the Clouds, Youth Forges New Paths”. He first extended warm congratulations to all graduates who successfully completed their studies, and expressed sincere gratitude and deep respect to the dedicated faculty and staff and selfless parents. He fondly recalled the marks of youth that students had inscribed in the coordinates of history: advancing alongside the nation, witnessing the great achievements of national development; progressing with the university, participating in the “Double First-Class” construction; and demonstrating the excellence of SCMU students through academic pursuits. In his farewell address, Liu Yi shared four principles to guide graduates’ futures: taking responsibility, pursuing wisdom, maintaining integrity, and showing compassion. He encouraged students to carry forward the SCMU spirit, shouldering the responsibilities of the times through practical action, gaining insights into future directions through wisdom, overcoming life’s challenges through resilience, and warming all aspects of human life through genuine emotion. In closing, Liu Yi affectionately reminded graduates that wherever they may go, they should remember the shimmering waves of south lake as their youthful memories and the lights of the twin towers as their spiritual guidance. Carrying these four keys, they should maintain the courage to weather any storm, the boldness to lead the tide, and the ambition to reach for the clouds, forging ahead in the name of SCMU toward a more magnificent China.

Professor Fu Haiyan from the School of Pharmacy, representing the faculty, extended warm congratulations to graduates and shared three aspirations for their new journey: maintain the tenacity of “remaining strong despite countless hardships”, anchor learning coordinates in an ever-changing era; embrace the pioneering spirit of “daring to make the sun and moon shine anew”, throwing themselves into a future of infinite possibilities; and preserve the resilience of “remaining calm amid turbulent clouds”, staying true to their original aspirations while writing their life stories in adversity and breaking through waves on the path to national strength.

Liu Zhou, a master’s graduate from the School of Computer Science, represented graduate students by summarizing his vibrant years at SCMU through three keywords: “growth, gratitude, and departure”. He will soon pursue a doctoral degree in Data Science and Engineering at Peking University’s Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies, venturing into broader horizons.

Kaisavan, a Laotian international student, spoke as a representative of international students. As departure approaches, he will carry the knowledge and friendships gained in China and at SCMU, spreading the story of his connection with China along the “China-Laos Railway” and using practical actions to promote mutual understanding between the two peoples.

Before the ceremony began, the university’s community counselors presented a heartwarming choral performance of “What the World Has Given Me”, transforming wishes for “a bright future ahead” into flowing song. A flash mob performance by over 120 faculty and students from the School of Music and Dance, combining the dance “Praise” with a medley of songs, instantly energized the entire venue. Under the guidance of student hosts, a meaningful “dress adjustment” ceremony was conducted both online and offline. All graduates watched the emotionally rich graduation-themed video “Flowers”, which captured the most precious university memories through flowing light and shadow.
