August 29 marked the registration day for the University’s 2026‑intake freshmen. Xu Yeqin, Secretary of the SCMU Party Committee, Liu Yi, Deputy Secretary of the SCMU Party Committeeand President, and Li Hongyan, Member of the Standing Committee of the SCMU Party Committeeand Vice‑President, led a team to the front‑line of freshmen reception work. They conducted on‑site inspections and guidance on various service and support arrangements, visited 2026‑intake freshmen and their parents, and called on faculty members and student volunteers working on duty.
SCMU leadership first arrived at the main freshmen reception station in the South Campus, where registration desks of each college were neatly arranged with prominent signs. The leaders made detailed inquiries regarding freshmen registration procedures, real‑time data updates and the handling of Green Channel applications. Observing the efficient, smooth workflows and thoughtful on‑site services,SCMU leaders fully acknowledged the hard‑won efforts of staff. They emphasized that freshmen reception serves as the primary window showcasing SCMU's image and humanistic care. All departments should perform their duties with a strong sense of responsibility and full enthusiasm, deliver thorough and meticulous work, ensure every freshman feels the warmth of home, and reassure both parents and students.

At the free accommodation area for parents,SCMU leaders instructed staff to maintain proper hygiene and quality services so as to offer maximum convenience for visiting parents. Afterwards, the leadership proceeded to freshmen dormitories in the NorthCampus, greeting and chatting with freshmen and their parents. They carefully inspected dormitory facilities, sanitation conditions and safety status, and asked with concern whether freshmen were satisfied with canteen food, how they got along with roommates, and what plans they had for their upcoming university life. The leaders encouraged students to adapt quickly to their new roles and surroundings, cherish their college years, dare to challenge themselves in future studies and daily life, and gain knowledge, friendship and personal growth.

A freshman from Hebei Province commented, “Wuhan boasts abundant higher‑education resources. Seeing the beautiful campus and experiencing the warm reception from teachers and volunteers, I am full of confidence and expectations for my upcoming university life.”
During the inspection tour, university leaders specifically urged college heads to uphold the student‑centered work philosophy, keep close track of freshmen’s ideological trends and practical needs after enrolment, and sustain follow‑up work including orientation education, academic guidance and mental‑health services. Such efforts will help freshmen “button up the first button of life”, guide them to integrate into campus life expeditiously, and embark on a new life journey with high spirits.
